The Franklin/Hart Airport, just 15 minutes from Downtown Hartwell, has more than 5,000 feet of runway, capable of accommodating most corporate jets.
The county is bounded on the north by I-85, which takes you south to Atlanta, and beyond, to Montgomery, Alabama, intersecting there with I-65, and north to Petersburg, Virginia, where it meets I-95. Additionally, U.S. 29 crosses the Savannah River into South Carolina and points beyond.
The shortline Hartwell Railroad opens Hart County up to the entire eastern United States with connections to mainlines Norfolk Southern at Toccoa and CSX at Elberton. The ports of Savannah, Charleston, and Brunswick are also within driving distance, providing great exporting and importing opportunities for manufacturers.
Adding even more accessibility, the Blue Ridge Connector inland port near Gainesville, GA, is slated to open in 2026. This inland port is an hour's drive from Hartwell and will offer a direct rail connection into the Port of Savannah.
