Gateway Industrial Park provides more than one-mile of road frontage along I-85 at Exit #177, with available sites including full infrastructure — water, sewer, natural gas, and telecom.The Franklin-Hart Regional Airport, just 15 minutes from Downtown Hartwell, has a 5,000-foot runway that can accommodate most corporate jets.Hart College and Career Academy works with local businesses not only to align course offerings with the needs of local industry but also to provide students with on-the-job training and apprenticeship opportunities with local employers.Hart County has one of the lowest property tax millage rates in the state. Hart County offers 100% Freeport exemption, meaning business inventory is exempt from state property taxes for raw materials, finished goods, and finished goods awaiting shipment outside of Georgia.Hart County IBA is committed to existing industry support and workforce development efforts.
Hart County leaders have long recognized the importance of regional cooperation. The Joint Development Authority of Franklin, Hart, and Stephens Counties exemplifies this regional approach, and has resulted in significant development along Interstate I‑85. Gateway Industrial Park I, a fully developed 150-acre industrial park, was completed in 2005. Within weeks of completing the industrial park’s infrastructure, the Joint Development Authority had already received its first new industry. Since then, industrial development has flourished in the tri-county area, yielding outstanding results for all the surrounding communities.
